Storm Fergus - Flooding in Salthill, Galway with a number of cars damaged

STORM FERGUS - Storm Fergus is currently crossing over Ireland this afternoon and evening with heavy showers & strong winds.

The peak of the storm is currently affecting Galway this evening with reports of flooding around coastal areas including Salthill where a number of parked cars have been damaged due to the sea overtopping and flooding the carpark. When it comes to Salthill it does seem like some don't ever learn during a storm.

The strongest winds from storm Fergus are hitting along the west coasts of Galway, Clare, Limerick and Kerry particularly around Galway bay where winds are particularly strong at the moment.

Some of these wind gusts will be severe and damaging with very dangerous conditions around the coastal areas with the risk of flooding.

Earlier this afternoon as storm Fergus made landfall a Thunderstorms passed over Leitrim with a Tornado in Leitrim Village which caused some serious damage to boats, Vehicles, Homes, Businesses and trees. Around 900 homes where left with no power.

Gardai have confirmed Leitrim Village is currently closed at the moment and no serious conditions were reported thankfully. One man was treated for cuts after been hit by planks.
